Neuromuscular Therapy is a thorough assessment and treatment of the body's soft tissue, muscles and tendons. It is frequently included in integrative medicine, chiropractic care, physical therapy and multidisciplinary clinics worldwide.
The therapist evaluates for:
Injuries by accident or repetitive work overload
After palpating and applying the appropriate pressure during the treatment, depending upon the physical condition of the client, his level of comfort and the condition of the tissue, the tone of the tissue improves and normalizes, and the nervous system is balanced.
Positional release- Strain/ Counter Strain - is an indirect technique. It places the body in a position of greatest comfort and uses tender points in the tissue to identify and monitor the lesion.
Trigger point therapy - Myofascial trigger points are hyper-irritable spots ( muscle fibers ). You can feel them as tight nodules or taut bands of muscle fibers. When you contract that muscle which holds trigger points or you press on it, you feel pain that radiates to other areas of your body.
The massage therapist uses different techniques to release these pain triggers and restores normal muscle tone. Assessment should be for both the specific cause and the general pattern that has created the tendency for pain and dysfunction.
Myofascial release - works with the restricted fascia, a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps around most structures within the body including muscles. When it is becoming less elastic, it restricts the muscle in its movement which can result in pain, muscle tension and diminished blood flow.
Neural reset therapy - is all about manipulating the nervous system to cause a resetting of the tonus of muscles. Due to a long list of aggravating factors, muscles or parts of muscles can be set to a level of tonus or tightness that can cause or contribute to restriction of joint movement, trigger point/band formation, and chronic pain patterns.
Myoskeletal alignment techniques - brings together the most advanced therapeutic strategies to relieve and ultimately correct patterns in the body that lead to pain and deterioration. The therapist understands how the structural system works, how the individual parts of this system work together, what problems lead to pain and how to recreate optimal balance and performance.
Spontaneous muscle release technique - is a form of positional release using the principle or knowledge of "Going With The Resistance " method. If you approximate the origin and the insertion of a muscle in order to decrease the tension on the tendons and shorten the muscle spindle, the muscle will relax and soften.
Techniques applied are important.
